Blog your way to success!

You can’t sell more food blenders with a blog. Can You???

We are often asked to come up with creative and innovative ways to helps with companies’ online marketing. We can’t claim this one but I love the idea that I came across today to promote the Blendtec home blender.

A US company selling food blenders – think smoothie maker – their product line’s USP is it’s reliability and robustness. Pretty dull business?? Fairly dull product??? Difficult proposition for innovative online marketing??

Well by blending iPods, garden torches, metal toilet brushes, and a range of everyday articles that you wouldn’t possibly blend …. But that you would expect to break your smoothie maker with (I broke mine with ice the other week!), videoing these experiments and publishing them on the company blog they have made one of the hottest You Tube downloads, and have made a great viral campaign for peanuts.

It’s a really well written blog too … inviting suggestions from readers for items to blend – inviting audience participation and membership of their “club”. Which got me thinking too …. Have you got a product that you just cannot think of an innovative online marketing campaign for??? Send us your details and we’ll blog our suggestions.

Globally people are sending their friends links to the videos which are surrounded by simple and unobtrusive links to buy the product. It’s a massive viral marketing success – being included on blogs such as this, emails, social networking sites and I’m sure some online news broadcasters.

When I showed 4 colleagues this site 3 of them said they’d like to buy the product …. What fantastic marketing results from some innovative thinking.

Well played Blendtec. Oh and I’m sure you actually want to see an iPod get destroyed here don’t you????
