Google Number One Position in Five Weeks!

The Google sandbox is a much talked about phenomena amongst search engineers - you can't get listed in Google until your site is six month's old the commonly held belief.

Google don't say this directly, and indeed deny it's existence so why does the rumour continue?

Well, because it is difficult to get a number one rank in Google ... Doesn't every business want to be found for the relevant keyphrases and therefore isn't it always going to be competitive to say the least!?

This week we proved that the sandbox doesn't exist for our client ArtyBird. The site artqualifications.co.uk is for a City & Guilds qualification for artists in residence, so when we built the site we did so using our standard methods (our standard, not everyone's!) utilizing accessible code, well designed pages, and easy navigation we launched the site on 10th August.

Did we then do a big search engine campaign? Did we even submit the site? Did we charge the client for search engineering?

No. No. No. Hats off to Google. When a site deserves top spot it gets it. Blowing away the sandbox theory.
