Subdomain Outranks Primary Domain
Here’s something that we thought was interesting, Eazytiger SEO have increased the Page Rank of WeAreFish to five! This is made even more interesting by the fact that the root/parent website has a PR of four (WeArePets). This may seem a strange result which does not follow the usual Page Rank hierarchy found on many domains; however there are reasons for this outstanding achievement.
WeArePets as a whole has almost 1000 inlinks whilst WeAreFish has around 265. Why then is it, that WeAreFish has a higher Page Rank than WeArePets? The two main answers to this question are somewhat broader and simpler than one might think. Quality and relevance!
You can have any number of inlinks to a website or web page, but their benefit in the eyes of the main search engines such as Google will be minimal if they are perceived as either irrelevant or being of low quality. Many Search Engineering companies and departments rely purely upon fully automated link building techniques which utilize black-hat software to spam web directories with link submissions on their client’s behalf.
If used correctly, a web directory can become the bread and butter of the Search Engineer. Having said this, most SEO operatives will perform a vast amount of directory submissions wrongly – placing their client’s website in the wrong area of a directory or within directories which are entirely unsuitable to begin with.
The best way to gain quality, relevant links is to embark upon a natural search journey. A good Search Engineer will undertake a journey through the client’s “scene”, discovering subject experts and areas where the client’s business and the public’s interest diverges. To put it simply, quantity is no substitute for quality and hard work.
