I'm proud to say that the Royal Robbins website has been awarded another design award. DesignFirms has scored the site 91 out of 99 for creativity, programming and ease of use. This is on top of the MyDesignAward and the CSS Awards recognition the site has already received - which I'm delighted about as this project was a joy to work on.

It was one of those great design meetings where an enthusiastic client conveyed the brand so clearly that I walked out with how I wanted the site to look in my head.

The Royal Robbins site doesn't set out to sell anything directly, but to get visitors excited about the brand and the lifestyle that comes with it. We wanted to encourage the visitor to explore the site and engage with it, so using representations of real objects seemed wholly appropriate. I wanted the site to feel more organic and to have a texture to it to encourage visitors to interact with it, and to reward exploration with nice little features (like the tape measure on the size guide which many visitors may not see) and to tempt users to respond on the blog with the postcard comment feature instead of a standard, dull web form.
