Top ten tips for better Search Engine Optimization 9/10

Blogging

Blogging is highly regarded by Google. Blogging ticks all the boxes – new content updated regularly, links to and from other websites, tagging so that you can label your content, authoring so that you create personal content rather than company speak, a website that is structured and large amounts of text to index. But blogging isn’t the silver bullet for all your SEO problems. It can take a lot of work and if you don’t keep on top of it the site can look amateurish. In my experience the best thing to do is to merge the blog with your website. This can be done by integrating it into your current site or as a link to an independent blog on one of the many platforms out there. That way you get control over the look and feel of your website, and the flexibility that that gives you, and at the same time impress Google by your constant updating of content – and keep users engaged because you are creating new things for them to read all the time.

Google is only ever interested in offering the most user friendly search results. This means that they spend most of there time creating code and rules for guaranteeing that website 1 is more relevant on a search result than website 2. Google is trying to read websites like a human brain would – scanning a site to make sure that what the searcher wants to the find is what the searcher finds – this is the only way Google are going to retain their market share. So the best rule to remember is that as along as you keep writing for your customers eventually your customer will find you and that’s what a blog facilitates, the ability to keep writing new stuff for your customers to read.
