The Epicentre

This was a really satisfying project. Being responsible for both the brand and the website ensured there was real cohesion throughout.

The store in the Lake District is such a part of its surroundings that we wanted to reflect that in the web site. Placing the whole web site over an image of the mountain ranges near to the store made the two so much more connected.

The website also needed to cater for two distinct types of customers - the more casual hill walking visitor and the dedicated mountain climber. We didn't want to overload the casual visitor, but needed to give the technical information for the products to those who wanted it, so we were careful to make that information easy to toggle on and off as required.

The site also features the ability for the staff to change the background image to suit the season, so that the site itself reflects the weather in the Lake District.

What made it so successful

The Team section

Part of the Epicentre's specialism is the expertise of its staff. All are avid climbers and renowed names themselves, and we've facilitated the Epicentre in tailoring their blog to suit their style, and creating a gallery for each staff member to showcase their achievements and knowledge.

Looking forward...

We're really pleased to say that we are able to continually help the Epicentre in growing and adapting their website.

They have some great ideas for its expansion and between us have some really interesting projects in the pipeline.

The aim is to make the site not only the place to go to buy clothing and climbing equipment, but also the place to go for information about the region or the activity - to become a real hub for outdoor pursuits.
