Eazytiger helps local community to go online

By: Emily

A leading design agency in Leicestershire has just completed work on a new website that aims to bring a local community together online.

The information based website www.inspiredresidents.net has been developed by new media agency Eazytiger. Its aim is to provide the opportunity for local residents of North West Leicester to keep in touch with local activity. The Inspired Residents group has worked with Eazytiger to create a website that gives grass roots organisations, businesses and other groups an opportunity to be part of what is happening locally. An important part of the process was to link together key organisations in the locality and opening up opportunities for residents to be part of what happens around them.

Karen Harris from Alchemy House said ‘We have many active residents in North West Leicester. They have been feeling very frustrated that local people don’t know about all the good things that happen in their neighbourhood and end up missing out on local events. www.inspiredresidents.net is just one way that we can pull as much local information together in one place for people to see”.

The North West Leicester residents were at the centre of this inspirational website. From the beginning they have had input into the design of the website, have raised all the money to pay for it and some of them work as volunteers to keep the website up and running to ensure all news and local information is updated. Eazytiger has designed and developed this website to be as attractive and user friendly as possible with a look and feel that appeals to all age groups. Use of a 3D street scene, complete with animated traffic and live football match all add to the accessible and informal presentation. Each area of the site is structured so the user can click onto a particular community group based in North West Leicester to find out their latest news and event. There are also direct links via active icons to the websites of community groups in other areas of the region.

Gary McCarthy, MD at Eazytiger commented ‘It is a great idea to have a website such as this to use for informing communities about what is happening in their area. The interactive elements of the site were a challenge and we are pleased that the site is already proving to be so popular”.

The site was unveiled at a launch event at Alchemy House on 22nd June. MP Patricia Hewitt attended and praised the project for its inclusive approach.
